More people are carb conscious due to the popularity of the Atkins diet and South Beach. People with weight problems often blame it on eating too many carbohydrates. Going low carb doesn’t mean you have to get rid of the pasta. It is true pasta used to be completely flour based. Today though the reality is you can buy pastas that are made from vegetables. Veggie pastas come in all of the same varieties as flour based ones. Zucchini, squash, seaweed, kale and many others are used to make these low cal versions of your favorite pasta’s.

For most recipes you can use grated cauliflower instead of rice. Cauliflower is very low in carbs.

It is also quite good for you. Cauliflower can be cooks much quicker. You can make rice dishes with this in a fraction of the time that it will take you if you use actual rice. Not only is cauliflower better for you than rice, it is an incredibly easy substitution to make. You can use grated cauliflower in most recipes that call for rice. As many as ninety five percent of them can use cauliflower instead of rice.

Instead of using tortillas, serve the fillings in a bowl. Sure you’ll have to do a few more dishes this way, but isn’t it worth it if it help you cut down on your carbs? Everything from fajitas to breakfast burritos can be just as tasty when eating off of a plate or out of a bowl. Everything still gets prepared the same but instead of wrapping it up in a tortilla, you serve it in bowls.

This will work for almost anything except for quesadillas and similar dishes. A bowl of melted cheese isn’t an appetizing meal. Many people think that they only thing they have to do is follow a low car diet. This is the wrong thinking. When you commit to a low carb diet you must be certain that you are getting you nutrients and vitamins and that your calorie intake is low. One of the main reasons that maintaining a low carb diet is hard is that all of the good snacks are filled with carbs. If you know how to make wise decisions, you will not have a problem with eating low carb.
